Having the money to ever get a project started is always a struggle. However, there are ways around it. B&Q are very good at handing out scraps of wood like MDF for free. But first you need an idea. I used to look upon my Ikea bed side table and cry a little. (Don’t get me wrong Ikea is wonderful) it was just a few years old and a little lackluster. The space was there I just needed to utilize it. It was as simple as 1,2 table… well sort of. Measuring was the easiest part.
With the free MDF wood and four banister legs it started to look like a real table pretty quickly. Using wood glue and nails it’s very strong. I’m pretty sure it could survive an earthquake.
I think that photo has more hair than table… More wood later I almost had a draw in place and a great frame for it. I had to shave some areas down but after a good sand it was ready to paint.
I finished the look off with a light pink rose handle (B&Q) and slate coffee coasters from Wilkinson’s. There you have it. A table to fit perfectly into my perfect corner. Go see what you can do! Get creative.
