Drilling a hole in a demijohn is a tedious task.
First thing I did was practice. This bottle was from The Grumpy Goat, a wonderful independent beer and ale shop. It was delicious and useful.
I used a diamond drill bit to create a perfect (ish) circle. To stop any glass blowing into my lungs I used Plasticine and water. With the help of an extra pair of hands to top up the water eventually it went through.
Now for the real bit.
The same process here with the demijohn. The glass is far thicker and it took a while just to make a small hole.
Well, just 30 seconds too long. It’s not the neatest hole and it’s a little disheartening that it has been cracked, but the little grommet with cover most of it.
Not long to go before I can use it.
